Wulai
Pretty bumpy ride from Xindian to this place called Wulai. A cab driver offered NT$100 per head to bring us here but he could not fill up the quota before the bus came to ferry us on a 40-minute hilly ride.

Wulai is the only aboriginal settlement (of the Atayal tribe) under New Taipei City's administration and has been known for its splendid nature surroundings with the "Wulai Waterfall" being the main attraction in the region.

Visitors are given two options to reach the waterfall - by trekking along the Lover Trail or take a ride on the tram to reach the destination.

This first thing that comes to people's mind when being told of this town, located at the north-eastern tip of Taiwan, is the iconic "Queen's Head" rock structure (pictured left).

Sad to say that after years of erosion with massive influx of tourists that causing changes to the ecosystem of its surrounding, the governing authority decided to barricade the "Queen" and demand photo-taking to be done from outside the perimeter.

Far cry from those days, when my mum and her siblings were able to get up close with "Her Majesty" to snap more 30 years ago.
